Statement on the US government directive to suspend access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5

The US government issued an export control directive on June 12, 2026 requiring Anthropic to immediately suspend all access to Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 for any foreign nationals, including Anthropic employees. The government cited national security concerns related to a reported jailbreak involving having the model read and fix a specific codebase, which Anthropic publicly disputed as too narrow and non-universal to justify disabling models used by hundreds of millions of people. Access to all other Claude models remains unaffected, and Anthropic said it is working to restore access as quickly as possible.

Introducing gpt-realtime and Realtime API updates for production voice agents

OpenAI launched gpt-realtime, a new production-ready model for the Realtime API, alongside five expressive new voices (Ash, Ballad, Coral, Sage, and Verse) and significant cost reductions via prompt caching. Cached text input is now 50% cheaper and cached audio input is 80% cheaper, reducing a typical 15-minute voice conversation cost by approximately 30% compared to the API's initial launch. The updates target making real-time voice agent deployment economically viable at production scale.
